Life is full of people asking you to make concrete decisions about stuff. It's the worst. Here's a short selection: What do you want to watch? Where do you want to get this Uber to? When do you want to meet for drinks? How do you think we should put up this IKEA shelf to make sure it doesn't fall on us in the middle of the night? The list is endless but we get it. You didn't come to Unyoked to make yet another decision. You came here to put your overworked brain into a deep freeze and let your mind wander free through the valleys and fields. We understand what you need. So we're here to make life easier when it comes to choosing a cabin, because choice is awesome but also sometimes not, right?
What do I want to get out of my nature session?
Another question, we know, but probably the only vital one. Our cabins are all amazing but some locations are custom-designed for different purposes. Let us know if you want to enhance creativity, disconnect, reconnect with your loved ones or just go as far away into a wide open space as possible. If you don't know, that's also cool! We can still sort you out with the good stuff.
What if I've got a furry friend?
This one's easy and will make your life way easier. Don't leave Kevin the Labrador at home, bring him with you to experience the benefits of the outdoors alongside you as nature intended.
Over 60% of our locations now cater to your four-legged friends. We have dogs of all shapes and sizes, and even some cats visit our cabins. Why aren’t all Unyoked cabins pet friendly? While we would love to have furry friends at all our cabins, unfortunately sometimes if just isn’t possible. The decision of whether or not a site is pet-friendly comes from our hosts who we partner with to unlock private land with epic nature so more people can access it. Restrictions on pets may be put due to proximity to national parks, to keep your pet safe in areas where pest control measures may be in place and to protect native flora and fauna that call the area home.

How adventurous do I want to get?
We use "adventure levels" on cabin pages that have a spice scale. The spice rating is something we came up with back in the early days and is still with us today. Think of it like going to your favourite dumpling place. Do you feel like you could handle a full-on spice level taste explosion (and light numbing of your tongue)? Or are you vibing more of a mild level, you want to enjoy the conversation a bit more, the ambience and not be living in and around the water jug?
In another probably off-the-mark metaphor, our spice level scale is similar to whatever that paragraph meant. For us, it really comes down to three key things:
Length of walk/hike to arrive;
Steepness of walk/hike to arrive, and;
Level of remoteness.
Each cabin listing is marked with how wild they can get, ranging from mild all the way to extra spicy, all designed to be immersive. Here's some tips on that front.
If you're prioritising adventure, epic locations or connection with a loved one, you might want to go that little further off the beaten track to a spicy cabin. Walks can be long and/or steep, but that's part of the fun!
If you're hoping to relax or have a little one along for the ride (meaning young kids, not pets this time), you might want to choose a mild cabin. They have shorter or flatter walks and are usually closer to your car spot.
Am I addicted to those bars?
We're all about disconnecting, but we appreciate that life happens. Maybe you're waiting on an important call or have family members back in the city that need to stay in contact with you.
From the results page for your area you can filter by cabins with reception, or no reception for you’re looking to get really off grid. You can also look for the icon on the cabin pages to ensure you're in range even when you're out there.
What if I still can't choose?
The person writing this guide has been to nearly 15 unyoked locations and they still have trouble picking the next one, so you're not alone! The good news is all our cabins are close to identical inside (with slight variations in certain locations or countries where it gets much colder at night) so wherever you pick it's probably the right choice because you chose nature.
